It seems that laws have changed in some parts of Africa. Contrary to what we have been discussing in class, having more than one wife is a crime in Zimbabwe. The prime minister of this country may just be in for trouble. A judge warned prime minister, Tsvangirai of possible charges if he decided to go ahead with his planned marriage last Saturday. His ex-wife claims the prime minister is still married to her under Zimbawe's tribal laws and is accusing him of bigamy, (A crime of marriage while one has a wife or husband still living, and from whom no divorce has been attained.)

ReplyDeleteHe still went through with the marriage and exchanging of vows, but saw not signing the marriage register as his way around the charges. Some of the regional leaders invited to the wedding decided to not go to the ceremony. All this conflict occurred because he already paid the bride price.
ReplyDeleteAs a leader of a country obviously your actions are going to be center stage. If he chooses to follow through with this then he is going to have major problems. Whenever a leader of a country is in the spotlight the story seems to change everyday.
